2. Beryl Sutherland interviewed by John Roberts about a woman's point of view on the building of the Homer Tunnel in Fiordland. She arrived there in 1938 as a bride. The tunnel was started in the Depression, got through in 1940, was held up by the war, and opened in December 1954. Beryl talks about being visited by Dr [Helen] Deem from Plunket and the feeding regime they worked out supplying her with tinned milk for her baby. Also Christmas and an earthquake and avalanches.
