Jonathan Dennis discusses the screening of the complete print of La Passion de Jeanne D’Arc (Dreyer. 1928) at the International Festival of the Arts. Recently discovered in a Norwegian Psychiatric Institute, La Passion de Jeanne D’Arc was originally released in Paris in 1928. The original negative was lost in a fire and has only ever been seen as a reconstruction from other versions. Jonathan describes the live musical accompaniment, film content, and the audience reaction to the film in 1928 (at the time, the end of the silent era of cinema). Includes musical accompaniment by Dorothy Buchanan, from her original composition.
