A new musterer to a 145,000 acre sheep station that borders the South Island’s Southern Alps. He works there for a summer. Training dogs, breaking in a horse, helping in the sheep and cattle yards. In the autumn all hands go to muster sheep down from the mountain tops before winter’s snowfall. As the muster proceeds the mobs become bigger until 10,000 are driven over ridge, valley, and river, down to the homestead yards.
