Host a Film Show in Your Town

Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision is always keen to hear from groups or individuals who would like to host a Travelling Film Show in their town. We supply the content, a presenter and, if required, a technician and projection equipment.
All we need to bring a show to your town is a viewing space that can be blacked-out and electricity. Past venues have included:
- A&P shows
- Historic homes
In compliance with obligations to rights holders and depositors of the taonga or treasures in the collection, programmes must be presented by a Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision staff member.
Community screenings have been funded in various locations through Local Council and Creative Community grants. Other funding bodies such as Licensing Trusts have also proved receptive. Applications for funding must be made by the host; however, Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision is able to provide quotes and letters of support to assist this process.
The initial cost of organising a screening is $150 to curate a new programme, or $100 to screen a ready-made programme from the list.
The host organisation is responsible for meeting Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision's presenter’s cost of travel, along with any equipment hire needed. If live musical accompaniment is needed, the host must also meet the musician’s fee.
Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision has no objection to the host organisation charging a modest admission fee to cover the costs of the screening.
