Kodak’s first annual picnic at Titahi Bay Feb 28th 1932 .The following are examples of some of the inter titles:
”An overcrowded bus arrives at the beach. Miss Harris being packed in last was glad to escape”; “Flora and Joan write love letters in the sand”; “Various games were included in our day’s outing cricket being the first for the camera to deal with”; “ Great run on Mr. Beachamp’s special brew of tea which was appreciated by all parties”; “Miss Harris drinks the health of the manager. Practice makes perfect”; “Mr. Shepard helps swell the dividend of Speight’s Ltd” etc.,
These inter titles are interspersed with scenes of people picnicking, playing tennis, participating in novelty races and swimming and diving contests. People are smartly dressed with some men even wearing ties.
The filming at Titahi Bay runs on into another picnic at Maoribank where there is a tug of war. A man is wearing a three-piece suit and a bowler hat - perhaps Kodak’s general manager.
There are also domestic garden scenes with a cat and dog and young girl feeding some fowls and ducks. The film ends with a rugby game of unidentified teams.
