Stories:
“They were treated horrifically in New Zealand hospitals, now they want compensation. We look at our treatment of former psychiatric patients. How do we treat the mentally ill? Once there was widespread institutionalisation and those who were the victims of the worst aspects of the old regime, the terrifying use of ECT for example, want compensation and an apology. When Lake Alice patients asked for that, they got it. But patients from other hospitals are asking for the same treatment, and the government is baulking. So if Lake Alice patients received compensation, why can't patients from elsewhere? Reporter Duncan Garner speaks with one former patient.
And to further discuss this we are joined by Sonja Cooper, one of the lawyers representing former psychiatric patients.

Plus... Singer & Songwriter Tim Finn. A new album and a new sparkle in the eyes. Tim Finn performs his hit single in studio and tells us why he has never been happier.

And Animal Welfare Week. To mark it ‘World Society for the Protection of Animals’ is seeking UN support for a declaration that recognises animals are sentient beings - capable of feeling pain and stress. WSPA believes that this will help raise animal welfare standards world wide. They also advise we can all help the cause by not buying into animal exploitation and abuse. We show you some important things you can do to improve the lives of suffering animals." TV3; tv3.co.nz; 20/06/2007
