Despite having a Police escort, Jim Senior - a Kaitaia Santa Claus, was water bombed and hit with an egg in the Kaitaia Christmas Parade on Saturday. Last year a Santa in Kaikohe was kicked by angry children after he ran out of sweets. Peter Abernethy reports on whether it is more difficult being a Santa now.

Following the incident, Jim Senior is hanging up his Santa suit for good. He comments on the waterbombing and other poor behaviour from children. There are comments from Bernard Foster, who was the regular Father Christmas at Wellington's Kirkaldie and Stains store for seven years.
