Part 2 of 4.
Broadcast Unit commentator Doug Laurenson [Military Service no. 34957] continues a commentary for radio in New Zealand. He reports on a recent Italian bombing raid which hit nothing, but was reported by Italian radio in Rome as a great success. The New Zealand men listened with amusement to the Italian propaganda broadcast and then heard the same story in a German broadcast by 'Lord Haw-Haw'.
This item is part of a collection of recordings made by the Mobile Broadcasting Units, which travelled overseas with New Zealand forces between 1940-1945. They recorded New Zealanders' experiences of war and messages to their families and friends, which were sent back home to be played on a weekly radio.
