Stories of Northland. Author and publisher A.H. Reed introduces the first episode of a series of readings from his book "The Story of Northland", which he says is currently awaiting publication (published in 1956.)

He gives some geographical and historical details about Northland and notes that although he has lived in Dunedin for many years, he is still proud to call himself a "Northlander." Reed outlines the research he has carried out in writing the book and gives a summary of its contents.

He moves onto early Māori settlement of the region and the arrival of Ngāpuhi.
