Radio Digest No. 123

Part 1: Jet planes at Ohakea Air Force station after arrival from the RAF. Actuality of jets of number 14 Fighter Squadron, the first to get Vampire aircraft. Contains commentary, description of the planes and flyover. Flying them today are Wing Commander Checketts DSO, DFC and Squadron Leader Rayner, DFC who have been training with the jets in Britain.

Part 2: Short introduction to story about the announcement that New Zealanders Earl Riddiford and Edmund Hillary are to join British Everest expedition.

Part 3: Interview with Lt. Col. Harrison interview on climbing in the Himalayas.

Part 4: Canon Brian Green, Rector of Birmingham in England, talks about his tour and the manner he has been received in various countries. He was asked to compare the state of Christianity in New Zealand compared with England he made a differentiation between the outward practice and the inward belief of the populations. He felt that there was less inward belief by the population of England. Canon Green was to take up the position as Rector of Birmingham on his arrival back in England.
