Part 1 (broadcast 4/6/14, 9am)

Intro script: Our Composer of the Week for New Zealand Music Week is Jack Body, one of our most influential composers. Recently he spoke to Elizabeth Kerr and in the first of two programmes, Elizabeth presents Jack’s life and music. The programme starts with an excerpt from Three Rhythmics for Piano Duet, which Jack wrote in 1986.

Outro script: Jack Body and Wayan Yudane’s [WHY-arn you-DARN-uhz] A House in Bali, featuring the Body as narrator, Ross Harris on accordion, Gamelan orchestra and the New Zealand String Quartet. That recording is from a CD of Jack’s music due to be released on Atoll in August this year [2014]. Elizabeth Kerr presented the programme, which is the first of two on our Composer of the Week, Jack Body. You can hear the second half of their conversation tomorrow night at 7 here on Radio New Zealand Concert. The programme was produced by Rebecca Blundell and engineered by Phil Brownlee.
