Lawrence, Bruno, 1941-1995, Interviewee
Radio New Zealand. National Programme (estab. 1964, closed 1986), Broadcaster
Russell, Bruce, Interviewer

New Zealand actor Bruno Lawrence talks with Bruce Russell of Radio Caroline about working in various New Zealand films including Utu, Sleeping Dogs, Goodbye Pork Pie, Smash Palace, and Wild Man.

Lawrence says he did more than just acting, and that New Zealand films overall just cover costs and don't make a lot of money. He talks about being able to make four or five films at the same time, and small budget and experimental films. He thinks that 'Close to Home' has done a good job and New Zealanders have educated themselves about themselves - for example, on accents and colloquialisms.
