Dan Greaney recalls the story of Bill Anderson and the Milford Track piano and the Quintin Huts.

Bill Anderson knew the track well up MacKinnon Pass and transported loads of wood up the Pass and built the huts there. After his wife died he donated her piano to the Tourism Department for the Quintin Huts. It was taken across by the Tourism Dept. launch and landed at Sandfly Point, being the Milford end of the track.

Bill set about dragging the piano, which was wrapped in tarpaulins, up the 13 mile stretch to the huts. Remarkably, the last two miles are on a steep and rocky incline, making it even difficult for a person to ascend. The piano was still there at the time when this recording was made.
