Plains FM96.9 is operated by the Canterbury Communications Trust to provide facilities for community access and educational broadcasting.
CATHOLICS ON AIR, a half hour programme broadcast Sundays 1pm by the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch. This is a special Anzac Day programme broadcast 25 April 2004. Presenter Reon Murtha interviews soldiers from more recent wars (Malaya, Vietnam), also story and poetry readings. A former high-ranking British navy intelligence officer, whose experiences have prompted him to campaign against nuclear weapons, Commander Robert Green, talks about the harm done by depleted uranium. He now lives in Christchurch and coordinates the Peace Foundation's Disarmament and Security Centre in the city.
