In this programme, New Zealand politician and diplomat Sir Thomas Wilford gives a talk on his impressions of the Islamic spiritual leader, His Highness the Aga Khan. (Sir Sultan Muhammed Shah, Aga Khan III)
These impressions are drawn from Wilford's personal encounters with Aga Khan III. He describes photos of him which hang in his study in Heretaunga.
He met the Aga Khan in London in 1930 and became friends because of a mutual interest in golf and racing. He is the head of about 60 million Isma'ili Muslims in India and Wilford notes, a supporter of Britain.
The Aga Khan is head of Shia Muslims, while Ibn Saud is head of the Sunnis. He talks about discussions the two had in 1932 at the disarmament conference and the Aga Khan's dsappointment at the conference's failure.
He ends by discussing horse-racing and His Highness's knowledge of pedigrees and thoroughbred-breeding.
