Part 8 of 8

A series of interviews by Doug Laurenson [Military Service no. 34957] of the Mobile Broadcasting Unit in Egypt, on the subject of how the New Zealand Army gets its food supplied and prepared.
Sergeant Major Elder [Military Service no. 5586] from Dunedin continues talking about his role. He is in charge of supervising sanitation around food. He says the Army's drinking water comes from the Nile and is chlorinated, which means it doesn't taste too good in tea. He says if there is any outbreak of dysentery the entire system is cleaned to almost hospital standards. Doug Laurenson back announces the interviews and wraps up the programme.

This item is part of a collection of recordings made by the Mobile Broadcasting Units, which travelled overseas with New Zealand forces between 1940-1945. They recorded New Zealanders' experiences of war and messages to their families and friends, which were sent back home to be played on a weekly radio programme.
