A tribute programme produced by the National Broadcasting Service about Moananui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu, the first Māori to win the Victoria Cross. [Date of the recording is not known but it appears to be before the end of World War II.]

Possibly aimed at younger listeners, this programme includes a dramatisation and explanation of events leading up to Ngarimu's death and other narration, with some Māori chants and haka.

It includes a tribute to 28th Māori Battalion by Sir Bernard Freyberg. [This is taken from his speech at a reception in Auckland in June 1943. See ID 32853.]

At the conclusion of the programme, Bernard Beeby reads a poem about Ngarimu's deeds written by Mrs Dorothy Baddeley of Tauranga.
