An Auckland property developer has told a jury he was terrified for his family when his business partner kidnapped him and forced him to sign documents handing over access to millions of dollars. Businessman Richard Kroon is on trial at the Auckland district court charged with the 2004 kidnapping of Kim Spencer. Another man, Craig Weller, is jointly accused. Our reporter Sarah Bristow has been covering the trial and joins us now. Q AND A

Police in Auckland are offering a 50 thousand dollar reward for new information that will lead them to the killer of a young woman nearly two years ago. The half-naked body of 22-year-old Katrina Ann Jefferies was found in Waikowhai Park in Hillsborough in July, 2005. Ms Jefferies was last seen by her mother at the home they shared in Mt Roskill two days earlier. She was on her way to meet friends. Detective Senior Sergeant Gerry Whitley says the reward is by no means a last desperate move by police. PREREC

Staff running an isolated camp for delinquent boys in the Bay of Plenty are said to be devastated that two 14 year-old boys were able to escape from their care to steal a car and guns and shoot at police. The two teenagers now face numerous charges and have been remanded into the custody of Child Youth and Family after appearing in the Youth Court in Tauranga today. Child Youth and Family's deputy chief executive Ray Smith has revealed more details of the pair and of the camp they were attending when they ran away. PREREC

The icy blast is expected to ease over Southland and Otago tonight but is likely to cause disruption further north. Temperatures have plummeted in Canterbury as the cold front moves up the country, and snow is forecast to low levels in Wellington tonight. Monique Devereux joins us. LIVE QandA

A survey suggests teenagers are far less likely to take up smoking than they were less than a decade ago. Figures show smoking rates among 14 and 15 year olds have halved in the last eight years. The percentage of Māori girls who smoke has also dropped. Bridget Tunnicliffe reports: PKG

Just how much responsibility should a mother take for her children's bad behaviour? This is the central issue in a Tenancy Tribunal hearing for an Auckland family accused of being a menace to their neighbours. The tribunal ordered the Salt family to move out of a Housing New Zealand property in Mt Albert, but granted a re-hearing after the family took legal action. Our reporter Jean Edwards has been at the hearing and joins me now - LIVE Q & A

Statistics showing falling energy efficiency in the fishing industry have re-ignited disputes about the viability of New Zealand fish stocks. Environmentalists say fishing companies are burning more fuel to find each tonne of fish because marine resoruces are overfished and trawlers are having to sail further to maintain their catch tonnage. But fishing companies say environmentalists are themselves partly to blame. Eric Frykberg reports. PKG

Auckland police have broken up a crime ring that stole more than a hundred thousand dollars worth of cosmetics and razors. Six people have appeared in court this afternoon, charged with participating in an organised criminal enterprise, receiving, and a raft of theft offences. In an operation code-named "Olay", the police found razors, skincare and cosmetics in homes and storage units in West Auckland. Detective Sergeant Eugene Pickett says the investigation started in 2006, over a group targetting supermarkets. PREREC
