Part 4 of 4.
Broadcast Unit commentator Doug Laurenson [Military Service no. 34957] gives a commentary for radio in New Zealand. He continues his report about a visit to an English unit in the desert, who were equally unwilling to speak for the microphone as the New Zealanders have been. He later discovered the British officer he had been talking to was recently awarded the Military Cross for his action in an attack against the Italians.
This item is part of a collection of recordings made by the Mobile Broadcasting Units, which travelled overseas with New Zealand forces between 1940-1945. They recorded New Zealanders' experiences of war and messages to their families and friends, which were sent back home to be played on a weekly radio.
