Albert Whaanga (Ngāti Kahungunu) was associated with the Waihirere Māori Club for many years. He completed his education and obtained a BA in the USA. He is spear heading a proposal for a Māori performing group of eighty members to tour the USA and Canada. This programme back grounds Albert Whaanga's involment with Waihirere and Te Arohanui Māori Party which he led.
