Dudu Maxwell of Opotiki College was placed third in the Pei Te Hurinui whaikorero speech contest held at Whangarei in 1983.

He acknowledged Pei Te Hurinui and spoke on " Why our people are so distracted at times",
"He aha taku iwi i pororaru ai" ?
