Tairawhiti Cultural Festival:
Bruce Burn introduces the performance by Waihirere Māori Club, winners of the 1988 Aotearoa Māori Festival of Arts (formerly the New Zealand Polynesian Festival). Waihirere also won this National Festival in the inaugural year of 1979.
Presentation opens with whaikorero by Lewis Moeau, including tributes to Moni Taumaunu, Hoera Ruru and Mihiata Kerekere.

Master of Ceremonies Wiremu Kerekere announces the prize winners. Muriwai Jones, Secretary of the Festival Society, comments on the professional standards set by Waihirere.
Wiremu Kerekere leads the audience and performers in the closing hymn "Tama ngakau Marie".
