MĀORI SPEECH CONTEST: Te kai o te rangatira he kōrero.

The Auckland Māori Speech Contest was hosted by Massey High School
under the guidance of Rewa Hudson, and Jack Wihongi from te Tai Tokerau greeted by all the guests.

- kaikōrero: Jack Wihongi talks about his school days that in 1936 te reo Māori was not to be spoken in schools, so they had to abide by that law, today of course that has changed... he talks about the students speaking te reo and taking part in the speech contest... he talks about his school days that he schooled during the war, mentions the 28 Māori Battalion, his connections to Te Arawa in particular Te Rangiwewehi and pays tribute to those that hae passed on.

- kaikōrero : Arapeta Tahana was a judge at the speech contest and speaks with Te Pere about the high calibre of speech from the students.
