Ngāpō Wehi (Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Whakatōhea, Ngāpuhi, Te Whānau-a-Apanui, Ngāti Kahu) is interviewed by Libby Hakaraia and Hēnare Te Ua, ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Waihirere Māori Club which he formed along with with Bill Kerekere and Te Kani Te Ua.
Ngāpō (or Bub) Wehi with his wife Pimia (Nan) are renowned and distinguished Māori cultural leaders and tutors. Former leaders of Waihirere Māori Club, the Wehi's went on to also form the successful Te Waka Huia Club in Auckland in the early 1980s.
He talks about the history of the clubs, the influences on him and plans for the 50th celebrations.
