"Song and Story of the Māori." Short Wave Radio Broadcast.

Linton Camp Māori Choir - Programme 1.
Presented by Ulric Williams.

From the Māori Choir of the 21st training intake of the Compulsory Military Training programme in the Linton Army Camp, Palmerston North.
Conducted by Lieutenant A.G. Armstrong and led by Corporal Reupena Ngata, a grandson of Sir Apirana.

"Whakarongo mai e ngā iwi" is the first song. The lyrics are adapted to reflect that the singers are from Linton Camp. There are usually between 35 and 50 members of the choir, the majority of Māori members of any intake.

The role of the choir in church services at the camp is explained and the Māori Battalion hymn "Au e Ihu" is sung.

Two chants, "Karu Karu" and the "Hinemoa" chant, "Kahore he wahine"
And finally "Po kare kare ana".
