GMNZ - SAMOA - REFERENDUM ON ELECTORAL REFORM

Geoff Robinson interviews Samoa's Opposition leader and former Prime Minister,
Tupua Tamasese, about proposed changes to Samoa's electoral system. The
country is planning a referendum to decide whether non-chiefs can vote.
Since independence in 1962 only Matai or chiefs could vote and be elected
to the Western Samoa parliament, and so only 32,000 of a population of
160,000 could take part in the elections.
