This is a black and white silent home movie. It shows scenic views of Lake Rotorua. This film shows footage of people boating and fishing, their campsite, native bush and shots taken from the water of the shore. There are scenes of a man splitting a log and finding a huhu grub. The camera films the huhu grub before the man eats it.

There are scenes of driving and of Waitangi Soda Spring. The film shows shots of driving along Te Ara-o-Hinehopu/Hongi’s Track, and footage of a boy looking at a large mataī. The tree is known as Hinehopu’s wishing tree. This is followed by scenes of a boy playing by the lake’s edge, and people enjoying the water.

There is footage of a parade through the town of Rotorua. There are different floats including one with a banner that reads ‘Rotorua Retailers Welcome You’. The parade also includes modified bicycles, cars decorated in streamers and flowers and a tāne wearing a kākahu and holding a taiaha riding a horse. The crowd mills around and the decorated cars drive slowly through the crowd. One man is dressed as Popeye.

There is more scenic footage of a lake and shots of geothermic activity. There is footage of the shore taken from the water. The film shows tamariki playing in the water and waving to the camera.

There are shots of pied stilt, and a campsite. The film ends with footage of a young boy cooking on a camp stove.
