Four North Island weka chicks have hatched at the Titirangi aviary. The North Island weka is endangered and the chicks, when grown, will be released into the wild. Parents are Wiki, a female weka from the Otorohanga Kiwi House and Wai, a younger male from Kawau Island. They will remain in Auckland where it is hoped they will breed again.
