"Te Maramataka Māori" - Wellington Teachers Training College Māori Club, No.1 - Spring.

Ulric Williams introduces a series of recordings of a 1953 production by the Wellington Teachers Training College Māori Club as they perform "Te Maramataka Māori" or "The Māori Calendar", which depicts the four seasons in song and story.

Spring is the first season, illustrated by several items including "Pipiwharauroa" - The Song of the Shining Cuckoo, "Hoea ra te waka nei" and a haka and poi performed to a chant.
