“THE BIG DAY OF 1939”. Father Christmas walks up the hill to a building [possibly Cholmondeley Memorial Children’s Home at Governor’s Bay, Banks Peninsula] . A number of women [mothers?] watch as he distributes presents to children from beneath a tree in the grounds. The Gardener is given a present, then the children take turns dipping into a barrel full of presents They open the presents before being served ice cream. Final brief shot of the children and women relaxing on the verandah in the sunshine.
