Partington’s Windmill on Symonds Street, Auckland. Various angles of the structure. Close ups.
Note: Partington’s Windmill was built by Charles Partington. During the New Zealand Wars Partington’s business, the Victoria Flour Mill lands the lucrative contract to supply the Army troops with biscuits. Despite bad storm damage in 1924 and being gutted by fire in 1931 the brick built Windmill continue to grind corn until 1941. It will be demolished in 1950.
In May 1950, exactly 100 years after it had been built and amid a great deal of controversy, Partington’s Windmill was sadly demolished.
