Many a good suit went west for a good cause, and many a belt had to be tightened over the next few months.
After a period of blood and sweat and tears, instruction in the manufacture of jam tin bombs and molotov cocktails was given...These dangerous efforts were greatly appreciated by the hero worshippers...
At last the great moment arrives, and at a Battalion Parade at the Race Course, the Home Guard are introduced to the public...
In the meantime clouds of war drift closer and closer and detachments of the Home Guard were marched out to guard strategic points...
The dreaded zero hour arrives with zeros, but our boys take evasive action and a detachment was ordered to advance and take a strong point...
The strong point was successfully overwhelmed...
In the meantime back at Headquarters troops are hurriedly put into uniforms given five cartridges and rushed to weak points... Time was found however for the necessary inspection... and guerillas were set out out on reconnaissance and demolition work.
