1986 was the hundredth anniversary of the NZ Police but for the country's women police officers there were only 45 candles on the cake.

This Insight documentary looks at where women are at in the Police Service and examines continuing calls for more women police officers.

Anne Waugh, who is the first woman senior sergeant in the National Police Control Room in Wellington talks about the difficulties she has faced as a woman in the Police.

David Burns of Massey University talks about the attitudes within the Police which are changing - and those which still need to change.

Produced and presented by Heather Church.
