Notes from Vince Aspey jnr (donor) as told to Gareth Watkins: Vince remembers being in the recording studio control room, aged 6, as this was being recorded in the Waring Taylor Street studios in Wellington, 1946. He recalls that there were about 60 orchestral players who were all very friendly. Andersen Tyrer conducted and Vincent Aspey snr (orchestra leader) was the soloist. This recording also contains Aspey playing Kreisler's cadenza. Vince believes this was the first (or an early) rehearsal of the National Orchestra.
