This is a live performance by The Chills and Crystal Zoom at Auckland’s Windsor Castle on the 29th of June of 1985 interspersed with spoken word performances by Chris Knox, members of The Chills and members of Crystal Zoom.

Crystal Zoom! were a Dunedin band comprised (variously) of Mike Weston, Bruce Mahalski, Eric Neuman, Nathan McConnell, Robin Murphy, Barry Blackler, Simon Amarasingham, Nick Neil, Rob Brown and Yoh (Laurence Landwer-Johan). They released a 7” single titled “Uptown Sheep” with a B side song called “Dunedin Sound on 45” which featured a medley of early Flying Nun singles in which they were assisted by Martin Phillipps and David Kilgour. They also released their own albums on cassette which had unusual cassette covers and artwork.

The Chills were a New Zealand band who were an integral part of the “Dunedin Sound” championed by the Flying Nun record label. This line-up features Martin Phillipps (guitar, vocals), Terry Moore (bass), Peter Allison (keyboards), and Alan Haig (drums).
