For decades industrial effluent has poured into Tasmania’s Derwent river making it one of the most polluted rivers on earth. The Tasmanian government, where the green party holds the balance of power, continues to issue permits to pollute. A N M the Australian Newsprint Mills the Cadbury chocolate factory and the E Z Zinc Refinery are among the worst offenders. Effluent from Hobart also pours into the river.
