New Music Survey - December 1986 Edition is presented by William Dart. In this edition he looks particularly at music written for voices. He talks with David Griffiths about his piece "Cosmic Praise", being a religious song sung by the Dorian Choir, with the composer as soloist.
Gillian Whitehead discusses her opera, "The Pirate Moon", and the difficulties of writing large works involving many vocalists. She wrote this for Anthea Moller and her students and Moller discusses some of the aspects of the work. Cilla McQueen (poet) talks about her Graphic Music scores and how she uses the performers creativity for interpretation. Kenneth Young talks about writing a piano piece for two of NZ's best pianists, Michael Houstoun and Diedre Irons.
