New Zealand Broadcasting Service. Mobile Recording Unit

A recording of messages from the staff of the New Zealand Broadcasting Unit in Egypt to their colleagues in Wellington. Head engineer of the unit Noel Palmer [Military Service no. 34956] talks about his concern over their supply of blank acetate discs. The unit has only 85 discs on hand and are trying to locate the whereabouts of the discs that are supposed to be on their way. He is concerned about the hot weather and its possible affect on the equipment.
Assistant engineer Norman Johnston [Military Service no. 34957] advises that the New Zealand Cinematograph Unit staff, McIntyre and Elias and their equipment have arrived at Maadi Camp. The NZBU personnel gave the new arrivals a hand out on the first night. They also brought a light van with them.
He says the unit are sending 23 recorded discs this week. On one of them is a recording by Egyptologist Alfred Lucas and also a series of talks from T. J. King [Military Service no. 9631] who talks about rugby in England. He says this talk was 'inflicted' on the unit and they will leave the broadcasting staff in New Zealand to judge.
