A waiata sung by Mrs Morehu, Mr and Mrs Ruhi Pururu, and Mrs Ransfield.

Major Henry Vercoe then explains the waiata, saying that it was composed during the New Zealand Land Wars, with reference to General Whitmore who commanded the 'friendly Māori'. There is also reference to the schooner "Luna", which transported these troops.

The waiata also mentions Patea - the Arawas were sent for to reinforce Whitmore's troops here. The song refers to the troops' journey to Patea, and their reception by General Whitmore on their arrival.
