Paakiwaha is a weekly two-hour current affairs programme broadcast on Monday mornings on Radio Waatea. Delivered in English, it covers current issues from a Māori perspective. It has been broadcasting since 2002. Paakiwaha is funded by New Zealand On Air and is provided to various Community/Access stations and other broadcasters. In today’s programme:

1. No stranger in the corridors of NZ courts, Sir Peter Williams received his investiture in the weekend. Admitted to the bar in 1960 he has taken on some of the most significant cases in NZ.

2. Sir Taihakurei Durie acknowledges the work of Judge Mick Brown who passed away last week and the latest NZ knight, Sir Peter Williams QC.

3. Tomorrow sees the end of the leadership of Mike Pohio for Tainui Group Holdings. He talks with Willie Jackson about his tenure with the iwi as the CEO.

4. Tai Tonga MP and Fisheries spokesperson Rino Tirikatene says the government leaves the aquaculture at sea with the possible closure of a mussel factory and job losses.

5. Covenor of the State housing action network John Minto have launched a national petition to fight state housing sales.

6. John Bluett - RSA Whakatane president: the Defence Force has offered the Waitangi Tribunal use of its bases as well as other help for the inquiry into the treatment of Maori veterans of past wars.

7. Kelvin Davis, Member for Te Tai Tokerau (Labour Party) talks to Dale Husband.

8. Hon Te Ururoa Flavell, Member for Waiariki (Māori Party) talks to Dale Husband.

9. Corin Dann on the latest on politics and Ken Laban wraps up the show with a look at sports locally and internationally.
