What They Said at the Time: When Women Got the Vote.

This radio programme features narration and dramatisation that reflects the mood of Parliament surrounding the women's franchise movement during the late-1800's and women's suffrage in New Zealand.

Actors read a dramatisation of Mary Muller's "Franchise Movement", politicians John Hall and Dr. Wallace's advocation of women's suffrage, the opponents to the bill, and the outcome of parliamentary discussions are discussed. Also, scenes from the House of Representatives are recreated and newspaper headlines from the time are read.
