Cadet A. Taylor had, at the time of recording this talk, returned to Base from Greece. He gives some brief impressions of his experience.
He was with one of the first New Zealand units to be sent across from Egypt to Greece. The cruiser that carried the troops across travelled at 25 knots, making the journey in less than 24 hours. Accommodation was crowded, however the soldiers found places to sleep on forms, tables, and in all sorts of corners in the lower decks.
General Freyberg was on the wharf to watch the arrival of the ships. The New Zealand troops camped just outside Athens.
