Formed in March of 1988 HINE-O-TE-IWI has affiliations within Kai Tahu and Kāti Māmoe. The group's female leader is Kararaina Tamanui of Aitanga-a-Māhaki and the group's male leader is Greg Haukamo.
HINE-O-TE-IWI represent Te Puka-a-Māui at the 1988 Aotearoa Festival of Arts. It is the first time that this group has performed at a Festival.

WHAKAEKE : Ranginui me Papatūānuku (original comp. Oti Murray and Tama Pākai).
WAIATA : Te maunga tapu o Tākitimu (comp.Canon Wī Huata).
PŌĪ : Te whakapapa o te marae o Murihiku (comp.Caroline Tamanui).
WAIATA-A-RINGA : WHAKA TAUPUKA (original comp. Robert Paraki).
WHAKAWHITI : Ka Panapana. HAKA : Rūaumoko.
WHAKAWĀTEA : Ngā waka o Aotearoa (original comp. Caroline Tamanui).
