The Cook Island va'a [waka] "Te Au o tonga" is due to sail from Rarotonga to Mururoa to protest against France's testing at Mururoa. A crew of seventeen one from Micronesia, Hawaii and Aotearoa will leave from "Ngatangiia" the place where the first migration left for Aotearoa many hundreds of years ago. Elma Ma'ua speaks with Sir Geoffrey Henry, the Cook Islands Prime Minister.

At this year's Summit Hui was held in Vanuatu, the Melanesian Spearhead (MSG) group condemned France's decision to resume Nuclear weapons in the South Pacific. The MSG which comprises Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Melanesia, and Papua New Guinea say they want to be involved in constructed dialogue with France and the leaders want a commitment from France for compensation from damaged caused by Nuclear test.

Fiji has decided to accede to the United Nations Convention on the illumination on all forms of discrimination against women; however, the cabinet says it will accede to the convention with reservations on articles which deal with traditional customs and equal rights of women regarding nationality and citizenship. The Fiji rights women's Right Movement welcomed the Governments decision
