Tono kōrero mai

Opens with a jingle promoting Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week.

The programme is preceded by an introduction by Dr Richard Benton, Director of the NZCER Māori Schooling Unit, on the increasing number of New Zealanders recognising the value of te reo in Aotearoa.

Selwyn Murupaenga then introduces an interview in English with John Rangihau.

Kaikōrero: John Rangihau speaking on the teachers of te reo Māori, the language and its place in New Zealand society, the training of Māori language teachers and the need for Māori parents to speak to their children in te reo - or send them to immersion schools like the one in Ruātoki.

Kaikōrero: Comment in Māori and English from Sam Kāretu, lecturer in Māori at Waikato University.
