Hēnare te Ua visited Hawai'i in June and July 2002.
These are recordings made during a visit.
Hēnare stayed as a guest of Jack Jeffrey and Gretchen Grove near Hilo on the "big island" of Hawai'i and also with Peter, Carrie and Werner von Buol on the other side of the big island at Kona.

Hēnare speaks with Jack Jeffrey, internationally respected photographer of native Hawai'ian birds, and wildlife biologist with US Fish and Wildlife, driving en route to Keahou Bird Sanctuary. Also speaks with Allan Libermann, Director of the Sanctuary.

On 19th February 2002, Hēnare flew to the island of Maui to attend a slack key guitar workshop orchestrated by renowned Hawai'ian slack key guitar player and tutor, George Kahumoku Jnr. An interview with George and continues with George's music.

While staying near Kona, Hēnare attended a full moon Hawai'ian story telling evening hosted by Danny Akaka. Part of a concert and interview with guitar player, Martin Paninui. Interviews with "Uncle Billy", guitar player and Danny Akaka. And Hēnare is joined by his friend Peter von Buol.

23rd June 2002. Hēnare is at the Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Reserve. He speaks with Jack Jeffrey and Baron Horiuchi and then picks up Jack's commentary through the Reserve. Hēnare speaks with two young Wildlife participants "Mike" and Rachael".
