A community comedy set in Feilding using local people in the leading roles.
The new school teacher is courted by Ken the journalist and part time fireman and Tom the grocery clerk, who play tricks to discredit each other. Kidnapping and a car chase follow.
Scenes of Feilding include: stockyards, main street traffic, bowling green, primary school pupils at assembly and attending classes, exercises and games.
“Community films used a stock script with a simple story that could be filmed quite cheaply against a background of familiar beauty spots with a cast of local players. By travelling from town to town in the silent days, producers could make the same film over and over again relying on local interest to make the venture profitable. The idea of making such community films originated in America and came to New Zealand via Australia early in 1928. The script called for a leading lady, a hero, a comedian villain, and as many local people as could be fitted into the crowd scenes”. - Clive Sowry, April 1994.

Adventurers Hector MacQuarrie and Richard B Matthews travelled around the world in a baby Austin armed with a movie camera. The two men involved were both New Zealanders - Hector Macquarie from Auckland, and Richard (Dick) Matthews from Kaitaia.
The film documents their trip from Sydney to Cape York, further than anyone had driven at that time. It included 200 miles cross country, fording rivers, and navigating quicksand, and bush fires. The journey was sponsored by Austin car company and was covered by The Sydney Morning Herald.

This 16 mm film was made by Tainui Robins (1902-1989) who was a member of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club, NZ Alpine Club and Canterbury Winter Sports Club. The films were screened to members and at public lectures. Mr Robins would often accompany the film with commentary.

Cars are unloaded from ships at the Auckland wharf for the Grand Prix at Ardmore. in December, a training run is held. In January, drivers and mechanics arrive from overseas and begin preparations.
Ron Roycroft and his family also prepare for the big day. They leave their home in suburban Auckland and, with thousands of other cars, head for Ardmore.
15 year old Jim Palmer competes for the Ken Warton Memorial trophy.
Minister of Transport, Mr Matheson meets the drivers, injured driver John Clarke watches from a hammock.
The race is off - Bruce McLaren has trouble with his gearbox and pulls away to the pits, Archie Scott- Brown is forced to withdraw.
Jack Brabham wins in a Cooper-Climax, 2nd is W Jensen in a Maserati and 3rd is Ron Roycroft. Auckland Mayor Mr Buttle presents the garland.

A group of Australian tourists are met by a man driving a vintage car, and shown around Wellington, where driving habits leave a lot to be desired. The modern tempo is too hurried and pushy, and we need to get back to the days of courtesy. The Wellington Vintage Car Club agrees to the idea of a ‘courtesy club’ demonstrating good driving, reminding people of friendliness on the roads.
