An inspection by King George V of HMS New Zealand, at Portsmouth, 1913.
The King inspects the ship's company drawn up on deck. With him are various naval and civilian dignitaries, including Winston Churchill as First Lord of the Admiralty (seen briefly), Sir Joseph Ward and Thomas Mackenzie. The party comes down the ship's gangplank and the sailors file away. The King takes his place with the ship's officers for a group photograph. Two of the sailors pose astride the barrel of a ship's gun. Other sailors cheer the camera.
