87-year-old Jack Wick remembers the Brunner Mine disaster.

He recalls finding out about the explosion and the families anxiously waiting for their loved ones to be recovered. One of his school mates named Davey was one of the first men whose bodies were recovered - he was a pony driver, and was nearest to the pit mouth.

He says one woman lost eight members of her family.
