Winter Strikes: Shots of freak weather conditions, floods, South Island high country farms, farmers dealing with sheep and cattle in snow, special food brought in for animals.

Rongotai Airport Project: Wellington, 1954, and the excavation of Moa Point for the new airport. Shots include a seaplane taking off from Wellington Harbour, Heron aircraft, Moa Point earthworks, earth moving machine, concrete blocks used in construction.

A City Responds: The work of Wellington City Mission - looking after the elderly and running a youth hostel for young men. Harry Squires planned the building of the 'Darby and Joan' hostel for the elderly when he died. A fundraising campaign was conducted to finance the project. Shots of money being collected in pubs, men drinking beer. Also included in this piece are segments of Harry Squire's funeral by an amateur filmmaker. Sir Willoughby Norrie, Governor General, lays the hostel's foundation stone.
